Flora and Fauna of the Pyrenees

An early start is well rewarded. Chamois on the nearby Cirque d’Anglade, predatory eagles and bearded vultures are not uncommon to see.
On your travels through the mountains you will also encounter some of the beautiful typical flora of the Pyrenees such as the Turk’s-cap lily, the Pyrenees lily or the short-leafed gentian Ella. Living in the forested areas are deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers, wild cats & many smaller mammals. A few specialities of the Pyrenees fauna are the small-spotted Genet cat, the lynx and the Pyrenean brown bear. In and around the water live the Pyrenean brook salamander, rainbow trout, salmon, otters & the endangered Pyrenean desman. You will also discover many types of lizard, dragonflies, beetles, butterflies and grasshoppers .
